Water is an essential part of our daily life and is critical for almost every business.
Global water use is increasing exponentially and unsurprisingly is linked closely to both population growth and economic development.
While there is an abundance of water on earth, only a small portion of it exists as fresh water, and even a smaller fraction is accessible to humans.
The main source of this fresh water that is available to society is found largely in lakes, rivers and wetlands. Therefore, market-based mechanisms centre around water quality, water quantity and wetlands.
Marine-based markets are yet to emerge, largely due to the complexity of measuring impact and outcomes.
