About Markit RFI Platform

The Voluntary Market has a handful of regulated trading platforms where buyers and sellers can trade carbon credits. For the OTC Voluntary Carbon Market there is no platform available (place for companies to go) which displays available credits and pricing, nor a place for buyers to anonymously list their needs.

The Markit RFI Platform is designed to create liquidity and market momentum.

Markit Environmental Registry today is frequently asked to connect buyers and sellers on the Registry. This is a tool designed to provide key and critical credit information to both buyers and sellers.

The Markit RFI Platform is a robust, anonymous on-line platform displaying credits available for sale including indicative quantities and price. These credits are searchable and viewable by registered Buyers. Upon interest in any credits the buyers can send an "Expression of Interest" to the seller, whereby the seller can permission the buyers interaction. Continued interaction takes place directly between the buyers and sellers directly.

Who should use the Markit RFI Platform?

All Markit customers can use this service both on the Buy and Sell side:

  • Project Developers & Aggregators to list (& potentially forward list) credits (projects) for sale
  • Traders & Brokers to list credits to sell
  • Funds, speculative buyers, traders & brokers to use for pricing and credit availability source for credits
  • Corporate customers to use to source required credits
