| Emission Credits International Corporation lists 2.5 million voluntary carbon credits on the TZ1 Registry | | Feb 17 2009 | |
New York, USA 17 February 2009 - Environmental markets infrastructure provider TZ1 Registry has been selected to list ISO standard and VCU voluntary carbon credits on behalf of Canadian based Emission Credits International Corporation (ECIC).
ECIC, a privately held company made up of rural people from Central Alberta, acts as a broker between greenhouse gas reducing farmers and potential buyers, companies that emit more than 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases a year.
ECIC's market-based system works to reduce overall emissions while bringing needed cash to the province's rural communities. This offset would not have occurred without market intervention, giving a price to the carbon offset that helps the farmers. It is a value-added revenue source that gives the farmer an incentive to convert to a zero-till activity. Several hundred farmers have signed up to trade credits with Emission Credits International Corporation.
"ECIC appreciates the responsibility we have, acting on behalf of the community in their efforts to improve the environment through emission reduction which in turn provides additional income," said Robert Coulter, President and CEO. "The use of the TZ1 Registry adds tremendous value to these carbon credits, enhancing their credibility and assisting in the growth of this important marketplace."
There are two initial projects which have credits listed on the TZ1 Registry. These are the Crop Residue Conversion GHG Reduction Project and the Summerfallow Conversion Default Coefficient Project, both verified according to the National Standard of Canada CAN/CSA-ISO 14064-3:06.
"As volumes in this emerging carbon market continue to grow, it becomes even more important that risks are minimized through robust processes and infrastructure. ECIC recognize this in their choice of TZ1 Registry as their registry, and we are delighted to play such a key role in supporting their community initiatives." said Helen Robinson, Chief Executive, TZ1 Registry.
On behalf of ECIC the TZ1 Registry has listed a total of 2,474,532 credits which are available on-line for viewing on tz1market.com/carbonregistry

About Emission Credits International Corporation
ECC is Alberta's largest agricultural aggregator of sequestered carbon offsets produced exclusively from farmland in Alberta and potentially North America.
Emission Credits Corporation created the opportunity for generating carbon offsets from the direct and indirect reductions of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that implement no-till and reduced till soil sequestration systems on agricultural lands, along with their own suite of custom protocols that they have developed and had independently validated and verified to an ISO 14064 Standard. We are currently working towards increasing the opportunities for farmers to collectively participate with us in the offset trading market.
