Global programs

A number of various different countries have a range of compliance or voluntary business models centered on protecting biodiversity and paying for ecosystem services delivered by the land owners or land managers.

For example:
Mitigation banking: US, Canada, France
Biodiversity Offsets Projects (pilot sites): Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Uganda, New Zealand Business Development Facility: Brazil, South Africa, Mozambique, China Agri-Environmental Payments: Brazil, Costa Rica, Eastern and Southern Africa, US.

Markit Environmental Registry has been selected as the global biodiversity registry for a first-of-its-kind commercial rainforest conservation programme: The Malua Biobank. The registry will be the first global registry for biodiversity units in the world. For more information click here.
