Market mechanisms and infrastructure play critical roles in all areas of financial markets.
Early recognition of the importance of environmental commodities led the Board of NZX (www.nzx.com) to invest through 2005 and 2006 in extensive research and development on the role that a regulated securities exchange and subsidiaries could play to support this market. This leadership and foresight resulted in the formation and incorporation of TZ1 Limited in early 2007.
30 June 2009 NZX announced the acquisition of the TZ1 Registry by Markit at such time the TZ1 Registry became Markit Environmental Registry.
Markit Environmental Registry offers a robust fully integrated financial market infrastructure platform for environmental commodities.
The Markit Environmental Registry service, provides critical market capability including issuance, holdings, transfers, retirement services, and financial market requirements such as delivery versus payment.
